• Eggs
  • Water
Poached eggs have got to be one of the most simple ways to prepare eggs. They are a brilliant option for those who don’t want to have any oil in their food for one reason or another which may include health. I first learned how to make poached eggs when I was thirteen 😀 so doing them now always brings about some nostalgia! This method of preparing poached eggs is the simplest of all! You can enjoy these with some tomatoes and toast or plain bread even. Or you could also serve them with some mushroom and a lovely green salad.

Resources/Equipment You Will Need

  • Pot
  • Small bowl
  • Slotted spoon
  • Cling wrap

Quick Instructions

  1. Get your eggs ready.
  2. Put some water on the stove top and wait for it to get to a gentle simmer. (Your water should just cover your eggs when you add them to the pot.)
  3. Put some cling wrap over the bowl or ramekin, making sure it goes deep into the ramekin. This is so that your egg does not spill over when you break it into the ramekin/bowl.
  4. Break the egg into the cling wrap-lined ramekin/bowl. Gently lift up the cling wrap and tie it securely. Repeat process for each egg.
  5. When the water is just about to reach boiling point, gently drop your securely-tied wrapped eggs.
  6. Close pot and boil for 5-10 min depending on how you like your eggs- soft/hard boiled.
  7. When your eggs are done to your preference, remove them from the heat using a slotted spoon, allow to cool briefly before unwrapping them. Enjoy!
