- Get your ingredients together. Put the lentils into a pot, wash and soak them for 5 min. Drain the soaking water and add the dried onion, and 50 ml fresh water. Bring to the boil until the water is finished and lentils are soft. Set aside to cool.
- Whilst the lentils are boiling, cut the rolls in half and spread the spread onto them. Preheat a pan and place the buns spread side down. Toast until golden brown. Remove from pan and set aside.
- When the lentils have cooled down, smash them slightly. Add carrots and garlic, salt and flour. Mix until well incorporated. Spoon a mixture into your hands to form a patty. Place the patties in a platter and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan. Fry the patties until golden brown (about 3 minutes on each side on medium heat). Avoid flipping the patties over and over. Just one flip on each side will do.
- Spread mayonnaise on your burger roll. Add the patty, top with lettuce, a tomato slice and a drizzle of BBQ sauce. Enjoy!
